Blinds and Curtains for any Door

This article introduces many types of doors to give you some ideas on how to dress them.

Glass doors are becoming increasingly popular as we aim for more light and space in our interiors. However, with the unpredictable British weather, it is a challenge! With less sunshine and a colder season approaching, we often think about functional solutions for windows and doors. Although we still should be able to enjoy any sunshine and fresh air on milder days.

We always recommend made to measure products to give the best results and the best quality.

Patio Doors and French Doors

The main difference between Patio Doors and French Doors is that Patio Doors slide open sideways using a special track; and French Doors are double doors which swing to open. Any wide doors that exit to the garden are generally regarded as Patio Doors.

Patio Doors are usually found in the busiest rooms and we often to see them in the kitchen and dining areas as well as the living rooms. Many Patio Doors are accompanied by large windows on the sides.  How to dress them depends on your personal choice, budget and functionality you want to achieve. Let’s have a look at some examples:

For busy areas and easy access to garden:

Perfect Fit and Intu Blinds – are a great solution for busy families and individuals who like to regularly open the doors. Both Perfect Fit and Intu integrate seamlessly with the door frame giving easy and comfortable access to outside space and offer a neat and modern look. There are different options of blinds that can work with these systems like Roller, Pleated, Aluminum Venetian and additionally Day & Night for the Perfect Fit Frame. Being chainless and cordless, these Blinds are safe for children and pets. This solution also works for any doors opening inwards. Perfect Fit Rollers can be motorised for extra comfort.

Practical and great value:

Roller Blinds – easy to use with effective light control. For privacy they can fully close in the evening and fully roll up to allow the door to open. They are stylishly simplistic, and we have a huge range of colours and patterns to offer including blackout, voiles and waterproof fabrics. The size of the doors and windows will determine how many Rollers to install. They can be fully motorised with operation through remote control, voice control and smartphone.

Vertical Blinds – are also very affordable and look flawless with big patio doors and windows. They can be made to open right, left or in the centre for easy access to your door. Their rotating slats give light and privacy control.

Privacy Control:

Day & Night Blinds – combine roller blinds operation with venetian blinds functionality. Two layers of fabric can either provide greater privacy or allow vision through the translucent sections of the fabric.  They give a very modern and clean look with lots of functionality and can also be motorised for full control via remote control, voice control or smartphone.

Bottom Up – Top Down – blinds system for Pleated and Cellular Blinds. The special structure of Pleated and Cellular Blinds allows the fabric to fold easily from top or bottom. Using this feature, you can adjust your blinds freely to control privacy and light from top or bottom. The same function is available within the Perfect Fit frames and Intu system.

Chic and classical style:

Voiles and Curtains – an elegant look achieved is easily achieved with bespoke curtains or voiles. Our collection offers lots of stunning patterns and colours.

Curtains can also be accompanied by other blinds for greater functionality.

Allusion Blinds – modern version of voile curtains with additional functions using the vertical louvres system. Flawless look and privacy control.

Temperature control:

Special Fabric Blinds – some of our fabric blinds have a special treatment to help keep the room warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer months. Advanced Solar Control is available on some of our Pleated, Roller and Vertical blinds. The reverse of the fabric has a special surface which effectively reflects the sunlight.

Cellular Blinds (Honeycomb, Hive Blinds) – special structure of the blinds similar in shape to bee honeycomb, creating air pockets for an extra insulation. For doors, cellular blinds work and look best using the perfect fit system.

Thermal Curtains – an effective and elegant way of keeping your house warmer in the winter, especially with an extra layer of thermal lining.

Bi – fold Doors:

Bi-fold doors open in a specific way to gain lots of light and to make an outdoor connection. They look great with blinds which fully integrate with their frame. We recommend slimline Intu Micro Pleated or slimline Intu Micro Cellular Blinds. These blinds are specially designed to fit the bi – fold doors neatly and effortlessly for easy access and opening.

Intu Micro Pleated and Cellular Blinds – easy installation with no screws and no drilling, and available in multi-zone opening. The smaller size of pleats helps the blinds to integrate with the doors allowing a comfortable and easy access to your outside area.

Single Door Blinds:

Front doors usually have a small window for security, which can be dressed for greater privacy and aesthetics. If the window is not too small, the best option would be a Roller Blind.

The front door can also have curtains attached to the ceiling if the side space allows, which provides extra heat and sound insulation.

Single back doors tend to have slightly bigger windows, so standard Roller Blinds can be fitted or Perfect Fit ones installed into the window frame.

Fly screens:

We offer a wide range of fly screens to give protection from insects encroaching your inside living space. The screens are available in a range discreet mesh neatly attached to your doors and window.
